Funnel Spring
Natural hot spring or soaking spot in Wyoming. Open for public access.
Huckleberry Hot Spring is a natural soaking spot located in Wyoming. This spot features natural hot spring. Always check current conditions and access rules before visiting.
From Flagg Ranch (between Grand Teton and Yellowstone on US-89/191/287), drive a short distance south to the unmarked Huckleberry trailhead pullout. The trail is roughly half a mile each way and crosses Polecat Creek; expect wet feet. The road and trailhead are typically accessible May through October.
Late spring through early fall (May through September). Snow blocks the road and trail outside this window. Mornings are quietest; the spring sees more visitors in afternoons during peak Yellowstone season. Visit on weekdays if possible to avoid crowds.
Free. No permits required for day use. The spring sits in the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway, which has no entrance fee, though the adjacent Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks do charge.
The spring source is hot enough to scald; only soak where the spring water has blended with the cold creek. Test temperature carefully before entry. This is grizzly and black bear country; carry bear spray, make noise on the trail, and never leave food unattended. Polecat Creek runs cold and swift in early summer; cross with care.
Grand Teton National Park is 20 minutes south with iconic peaks and Jackson Lake. Yellowstone's South Entrance is 10 minutes north; Old Faithful is roughly an hour into the park. Jackson, Wyoming, is 90 minutes south for full-service amenities. Flagg Ranch offers basic lodging and a restaurant near the trailhead.
